This brooch is inspired by the Japanese philosophy of wabi sabi, finding beauty and harmony in asymmetry, worn surfaces and slight imperfections. This sculptural piece has a very textured surface created by hammering and firing layers of enamel. After much sanding, it’s accented with lacquer and then dusted with pure gold or silver powder. To finish, it’s sealed with matte varnish spray. I enjoy working with simple, sculptural forms, creating timeless and wearable art pieces.
To preserve lacquer coating, avoid contact with chemicals found in perfumes, cosmetics and cleaning products.
